Greyhound Freedom UK launches

100 Years of Dog Racing. It's Time to End It. A new coalition has launched with one clear goal: ending greyhound racing in England.

Greyhound Freedom UK brings together Animal Aid, GREY2K USA Worldwide, League Against Cruel Sports, Gamban and Shut Down Campaigns in a coordinated effort to stop the exploitation of greyhounds for gambling and entertainment.

The launch comes at a pivotal moment. While countries and nations across the world are moving away from greyhound racing, England is increasingly becoming an outlier. Public attitudes have shifted, support for stronger action is growing, and politicians from across the political spectrum are beginning to recognise that the industry's time is up.

New polling commissioned by the coalition shows that the public is on side and supportive of ending greyhound racing. Momentum is also building in Parliament, with a growing number of MPs speaking out against the industry and calls for legislative change gaining traction, including the introduction of a Private Member's Bill by Lisa Smart MP.

Launching in the 100th year of dog racing, Greyhound Freedom UK believes this is not a milestone to celebrate, but an opportunity to draw a line under a century of suffering. Through evidence, public campaigning and political advocacy, the coalition will make the case for a phased end to racing and a future in which greyhounds are no longer bred, raced and discarded for profit.

The new website brings together campaign resources, welfare evidence, research, FAQs and opportunities for the public to take action.

Greyhounds have been exploited for too long. Public opinion is changing, political support is growing, and England must move with the times. Together, we can make greyhound freedom a reality.
