THE CASEAGAINST RACING

Greyhound racing presents itself as a regulated sport, but the industry's own figures tell a different story. Behind every race are dogs who suffer injuries, lose their lives on the track, or are discarded when they are no longer profitable.

The Industry's Own Numbers

The latest figures released by the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) recorded 3,648 injuries at licensed tracks during 2025. The same data revealed 161 greyhounds died or were put to sleep following track incidents, while 406 racing greyhounds were killed overall for reasons including catastrophic injuries, treatment costs, being deemed unsuitable for rehoming, or unexplained sudden death.

Greyhounds Deserve Better

More than 5,000 greyhounds left racing in 2025, with thousands reliant on charities and adoption organisations to provide them with a future beyond the track.

A century after greyhound racing began, dogs are still being injured, killed and discarded in the name of gambling. These are not statistics. They are individual animals whose suffering is entirely avoidable.
